Physarum — Slime-Mould NetworksA brainless single-celled slime mould solves mazes and re-draws the Tokyo rail map by following one instinct: crawl toward the scent you last left behind. Millions of simulated particles do the same here — sniff left, ahead and right, steer toward the strongest trail, deposit a little more — and a living, breathing transport network self-organises out of pure noise. The journey: each particle senses three points on a chemо-attractant field, rotates by a fixed angle toward the largest, steps forward and adds to the field; the field then blurs and evaporates a little every frame.
