Relativistic StarbowFly through a field of stars fast enough and the sky itself rearranges: everything ahead crowds into a small, blazing, blue-white patch, while behind you the stars thin out and fade to a dim ember red. Drag to look around at any speed and see it happen.Einstein's 1905 paper already contains the formula: a star truly at angle θ from your heading appears at angle θ′, with cosθ′ = (cosθ+β)/(1+βcosθ) — the faster you go, the more every direction gets swept toward dead ahead. The same boost Doppler-shifts and beams each star's light by a factor D = 1/[γ(1−βcosθ)], so the forward sky is brighter and bluer, the rear sky dimmer and redder — the "starbow" imagined in 1970s science fiction and later confirmed by exact calculation.
